Royal Air Force Provost & Security Services (Central Region) is a "lodger unit" and is parented for administrative and medical support by RAF Cranwell.  As an independent unit, it is commanded by a Sqn Ldr (Admin(Prov/Sy)) and assisted by a Flt Lt (Admin(Prov/Sy)) and a Warrant Officer (RAF Police).

Operational control and admin of the unit is exercised by OC RAF P&SS on behalf of AOSyPM(RAF) who retains functional control.

The Region covers the counties of Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Suffolk and is responsible for providing the following services 24 hours a day, 365 days per year to RAF Stations, Units, AFCO's and assets:

  • Protective Security Services.

  • Counter Intelligence Services.

  • Investigation Services.

  • Crime Reduction Advice.

  • Special Duties Support for Royal and VIP Visits.

  • Police Support for Major Functions.

  • Investigations to Conduct Enquiries Concerning Absentees & Deserters.

  • An Effective Liaison with other Police, Security and Intelligence Agencies.
